Corn Fructose Process
Corn Fructose is the second largest product of corn refining, after fuel alcohol. Corn Fructose is used as a sweetener, as is glucose. Fructose appears in over 50 fruits and vegetables with apples and pears have the largest concentration of fructose of any fruit. Corn Fructose also provides benefits beyond sweetest: moisture retention useful to improve palatability in foods such as granola bars, flavor enhancement, colligative properties useful in ice cream and frozen fruit, fermentable solids useful in yogurt and yeast-raised breads, and resistance to crystallization enabling “soft” cookies.
As in much of corn refining, elements of the process are quite corrosive and therefore require higher grade stainless steel alloys. The higher the grade of allow, the more challenging the fabrication. WINBCO has the most experienced field teams to address these additional challenges.
